A 38 year-old Nortonville man was arrested in Hopkins County after attempting to swim away from Sheriff’s Deputies who were attempting to arrest him for multiple warrants on Sunday.
Dustin Suttle was wanted for numerous offense, including a parole warrant and felony arrest, according to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrived at 1790 McKnight Road on Sunday to locate Suttle. He then fled from the property on a motorcycle and drove towards the Tradewater River.
Suttle drove the motorcycle down a river embankment and jumped in, even after the Deputies ordered him to swim back to the bank.
Eventually, Suttle started struggling to tread water and used a fallen tree to stay above water. The Deputies then jumped into the water to prevent Suttle from a medical emergency.
After swimming to the other side, Suttle was apprehended by the two Deputies who were in the water. Suttle and the Deputies were then given a floatation device by two other deputies and swam back to the other side, where Suttle was taken into custody.
Suttle faces 14 charges, including Parole Violation, Felony Assault, Felony Criminal Mischief, and Felony Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle and on Foot.
He is lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
