A 49-year-old Hopkinsville man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop.
James Goode is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, according to a media release.
On Monday, October 5, around 12:54 a.m., deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office stopped to check on a vehicle in the emergency lane on Interstate 24 heading eastbound at the 89-mile marker.
The driver, Goode, was found to have a bag containing three pills, a bluish powder on the truck’s floor bed, and an open alcoholic beverage container, according to officials.
Goode told officials he had approximately three shots and showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol, according to a media release. He was arrested and lodged in the Christian County Detention Center.
Officials said Goode was taken to the hospital before he was taken to jail.
