A three and a half days trial ended in about 90 minutes Monday afternoon when a Radcliff father of six was found guilty of murder in the death of his 4-month-old son.
A jury of six men and six women unanimously found 36 year-old Daniel Cox, a disabled U.S. Army veteran, guilty of beating Jayceon Chrystie to death after picking him up August 6, 2015, from the home of the child’s mother in Radcliff. Less than two hours later, Jayceon was returned unresponsive, battered and bruised, left in his car seat in the driveway as Cox apologized to the mother and then drove away.
Jayceon died at 10:32 p.m. August 8, 2015, five minutes after he was taken off life support at the former Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville.
The jury recommended Cox serve a life sentence with parole eligibility after 20 years. Formal sentencing is at 1:15 p.m. January 24.
