A North Hardin High School student is accused of bringing a knife and BB gun pistol to school last week, according to Radcliff Police Chief Jeff Cross.
Cross said someone saw the knife on a school bus and authorities were contacted. The situation was under control well before school started that morning, Hardin County School spokesman John Wright said. He added that students and staff were safe.
The student was cited for unlawful possession of a weapon on school property and released to their parents. Cross did not provide the student’s age or gender.
Unlawful possession of a weapon on school property is a Class D felony.
Cross said a note was found in a backpack with seven names, either first names or nicknames, of students and possibly staff. Full names were not used.
North Hardin Principal Tanya Corder said in a one-call message to parents that the school never was in any danger, according to a transcript provided by Wright.
The incident remains under investigation by the Radcliff Police Department.
