

Two men are facing charges after two armed robberies in Meade County. According to the Meade County Sheriff’s Department, the first robbery happened around 9:40 pm Sunday night
(11/8) at the Shreeji Foot Mart in Hog Wallow. Two white men wearing masks went into the store when one of the suspects displayed a gun. The suspects fled the store after the store clerk handed over an undetermined amount of money.
Around 11 pm Wednesday night (11/11), two white males wearing bandannas over their face went into the Flaherty Valero, displayed firearms and demanded money. The store clerk handed over the contents of the cash drawer, resulting in the suspects fled the store.
After a preliminary investigation, the Meade County Sheriff’s Department sent an attempt to locate for suspect vehicle. A short time later, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department located a vehicle matching the description around 12:30 am Thursday (11/12) in Elizabethtown.
The Hardin County Sheriff’s Department detained the suspects for the Meade County Sheriff’s Department. Upon further investigation and interviews of 25 year-old Joshua Sheffield and 36 year-old Jesse Mattingly, both of Elizabethtown, each were arrested and lodged in the Meade County Detention Center on two counts of first degree robbery. Bond is set at $50,000 each.
The Meade County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Kentucky State Police, Muldraugh and Brandenburg Police Departments, and Kentucky Fish and Wildlife.
