
A man was arrested on several charges after a man led police on a pursuit in Elizabethtown. Elizabethtown Police spotted a suspected fugitive driving a black Nissan Altima on the southern side of town Tuesday afternoon.
Police said when an officer tried to get Devontay Curry, 23 of Elizabethtown, to pull over he took off, initiating a pursuit through downtown Elizabethtown.
Curry attempted to lose the officer by cutting down Poplar Street, but lost control of the car at the North Mulberry intersection where he struck a utility pole and involved two other vehicles. Curry fled on foot but was apprehended about a block away in the parking lot of St. James Catholic Church.
Curry was wanted on three outstanding warrants including possession of marijuana, theft by unlawful taking and fourth-degree assault. He was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment; first-degree assault; first-degree criminal mischief; first-degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle; leaving the scene of an accident or failure to render aid; first offense operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants; no operator’s license and reckless driving.
Curry was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
