A welfare check ended with a Grayson County man being arrested on drug-related charges in Breckinridge County.
According to Breckinridge County Sheriff Todd Pate, a call came in to dispatch early Wednesday (01/13) morning of an SUV parked with a person inside on a bridge along Mercer Bend Road in the McDaniels area. When Pate arrived on the scene, the vehicle had left but was located a short time later behind a trailer along Mercer Bend, with the driver talking to a man outside the vehicle.
That person, identified as 37 year-old William Clayton Mercer of Leitchfield, had a warrant issued in Grayson County for probation violation for a manufacture of methamphetamine charge. Pate says a subsequent search of Mercer turned up meth in his jeans pocket.
Mercer was lodged in the Breckinridge County Detention Center on a charge of possession of a controlled sustenance- 1st offense (meth) and the probation violation.
