Police in Radcliff believe at least five people were involved in a violent kidnapping over the weekend. Four of them are under arrest.
A woman with several stab wounds was found on the Matthew Welch Bridge over the Ohio River that connects Brandenburg, Kentucky with Mauckport, Indiana, around 8 a.m. Sunday.
Kentucky State Police started the investigation, but turned it over to Radcliff police after learning that was where the crime started.
Radcliff Police Chief Jeff Cross said he believes all five suspects knew the victim, adding that they were hanging out at a party at a home in the Parkside Manor Mobile Home Park in Radcliff.
Investigators said the victim was assaulted, robbed, tied up in bed sheets and taken to the bridge where her attackers told her to walk across the railing and jump in the water, but she didn’t comply. A passerby found her seriously injured body, and she was taken to a hospital.
Police have arrested 38 year-old Schawn Lea Millin and 27 year-old Christopher L. Deaton, both of Radcliff, 43 year-old Angela New and 36 year-old Marc McCoy.
Millin is charged with kidnapping and robbery and Deaton is charged with kidnapping and was lodged in the Hardin County Detention. McCoy is currently in the Harrison County Jail in Indiana on unrelated charges, but police said he and New will be charged in this case.
Police have a warrant out for one other person whose name has not been released.
Cross says he expects charges to be upgraded.
