According to the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department, witnesses said a BMW passed them at a high rate of speed on the Western Kentucky Parkway and then pulled over into the emergency lane.
The witnesses added the BMW passed them again at a high rate of speed and crashed at the 94 exit ramp, struck a guard rail, traveled over an embankment, and overturned.
Police say 29 year-old Whitney White of Leitchfield, was ejected from the car and 22 year-old Michael Stone of Falls of Rough was trapped inside the front seat.
Police say alcohol and drugs have not been ruled out as a factor in the crash. The sheriff’s department is also investigating who was driving the car at the time of the crash.
The parkway was shut down for a short time while both White and Stone were airlifted to the University of Louisville Trauma Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Neither person was wearing a seatbelt.
