A three vehicle accident Tuesday (3/1) morning caused two people to be taken to the hospital. According to Breckinridge County Chief Deputy Sheriff Bruce Anthony, the accident happened around 7:35 A.M. in front of the Breckinridge County Area Technology Center in the westbound lane of US Highway 60.
A 2000 Dodge Durango, driven by Cody Rabe of Arkansas, was following in traffic when he looked down for a moment and looked up to see stopped traffic. Rabe was not able to stop and struck the back of a 2008 Pontiac driven by Tonya House of Hardinsburg. The impact caused House’s vehicle to be pushed under that back of a 2010 Freightliner School bus driven by Jennifer Salmon of McDaniels. The bus was owned by Breckinridge County Schools.
House was taken to Breckinridge Memorial Hospital by Breck Central EMS for observation. One student out of the twenty nine on board the school bus was taken to the hospital for head and ankle injuries. The other students were sent onto school.
Salmon and Rabe were not injured. Traffic was delayed about an hour as Chief Deputy Anthony, Breckinridge County Sheriff Todd Pate and Hardinsburg Police Officer Brad Norwood was assisted at the scene by the Harned Fire Department.
