The Bowling Green Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened just before 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1 at College Suites apartment complex.
When officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Mario Lopez of Bowling Green had been shot. Lopez is a freshman at Western Kentucky Univeristy.
Police say they believe 19 year-old Antwan Thomas of Bowling Green left apartment 338 to warm-up a vehicle in the parking lot.
Moments later, police say 20 year-old Samuel Mitchell of Bowling Green and Lopez left the apartment and found Thomas in a confrontation with two men. Mitchell and Lopez retreated towards the apartment when they were confronted by one of the men who produced a gun and shot Lopez.
Police say the suspects then fled the area.
The suspects are described at two black males, each around six feet tall. Both were wearing black or dark clothing.
According to Lopez mother he was shot in the chest six times, but he is slowly making progress in a Tennessee hospital.
No arrests have been made and police have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
