Three buildings in downtown Elizabethtown, used more than two decades as county government offices, are returning to private hands.
At an absolute auction Saturday (3/05) morning, the three properties known as the R.R. Thomas Building were sold for a combined price of $328,350.
The properties of 16 Public Square and 107 North Main Street sold for $207,350 to three local business owners – Kevin Addington, Ben LaRue and Carl Swope, under the name Elizabethtown Renaissance – who pooled their resources. The men previously purchased the former J.J. Newberry property on Public Square from Elizabethtown city government.
Will and Madeline Rivera purchased 14 Public Square at a price of $121,000. The Riveras own Running Soles at 2410 Ring Road, a specialty store offering running and walking shoes and related gear. Will Rivera said they are considering relocating the business to the larger downtown space when their lease expires.
