
Emergency crews responded to several weekend accidents in Meade County.
First, a two vehicle accident sent two people to the hospital over the weekend in Meade County. Emergency crews were called to the scene on US 60 near Hobbs Reesor Road around 4:40 pm Saturday(3/19) afternoon. Two vehicles collided just east of the intersection. Two people had to extricated from the vehicles by fire crews. They were treated at the scene and taken to University of Louisville Hospital by Meade County EMS. The Flaherty Fire Department and the Meade County Sheriff’s Department were on the scene about two hours which delayed traffic in the area.
Later Saturday night, Muldraugh Police responded to a report of a non-injury along US 31 W after a car struck a tree. Police responded around 11:49 pm to the area near the intersection of Kentucky 1638. The female driver was traveling south on Dixie Highway came upon a tree that had fallen into the travel lane of the road. The driver was not injured and the road way was blocked as crews with the State Transportation Cabinet worked to clear up the tree.
On Sunday (3/20) afternoon, a single vehicle accident happened at the intersection of Highway 79 and Greenwell Lane near Brandenburg, when the driver of the vehicle lost control and caused the vehicle to overturn. The Meade County Fire Department along with Meade County EMS and the units from the Brandenburg Police assisted the Meade County Sheriff’s Department at the scene.
Later Sunday night, a single vehicle accident happened around 8:37 pm on Highway 144 East in Breckinridge County about a quarter mile from Cart Manning Road near the Union Star Community. A male driver attempted to avoid an animal in the roadway and lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. The driver and a child was taken to Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, Indiana for non life threatening injuries. Rhodeila and Payneville Fire Departments also assisted the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Department at the scene.
