Kentucky’s attorney general is warning Kentuckians about a phone scam in which a caller claims to represent a law enforcement charity.
State Attorney General Andy Beshear said his office has received reports of a caller who requests donations from Kentuckians to help officers and law enforcement families.
Beshear said the caller asks people for immediate payments via wire transfer or prepaid cards. He said such payment methods are difficult to trace and track.
Beshear is encouraging people to research charitable organizations before making contributions. He said people can report a concern about charitable solicitation to the Federal Trade Commission.
