A Elizabethtown man was arrested and is facing charges after he stole a Meade County School bus.
According to the Meade County Sheriff’s Department the incident happened around 4 pm Sunday (9/4) at the Flaherty Elementary School. Witnesses reported to the Meade County E911 Center that a male subject entered and drove the bus from the school property traveling south on Kentucky 313. Sheriff deputies were called to the area, who requested the assistance of the Vine Grove Police Department to assist in the search.
A witness advised the dispatchers that the school bus had turned onto Kentucky 1882. The Vine Grove Police officer arrived on scene first and found the bus parked and still running in a driveway. Witnesses gave police a physical description of suspect and advised he was last seen headed toward a wood line. Deputies observed the suspect running behind houses across Kentucky 313. Deputies apprehended the suspect and took him into custody and was positively identified by the two witnesses. The suspect gave deputies false information as to who he was. After a short investigation deputies were able to determine the suspect was a 26 year-old Ryannel Braxton of Elizabethtown.
Braxton was charged with theft by unlawful taking automobile and giving false information to an officer and was in the Meade County Detention Center.
