A local department store was evacuated because of a bomb threat Wednesday afternoon in Hardinsburg.
Hardinsburg City Hall received a call from the store manager of the Hardinsburg Walmart just after 4 pm CDT and stated he had just received a call stating that a bomb was in the store and he needed to get everyone out of the building in five minutes. Police was able to make direct contact by phone with the store manager and obtained further information on the situation.
Store employees and police quickly evacuated the store building within the window of the threat. Police and fire officials, along with store management thoroughly searched the store over an hour for any suspicious devices. After the search did not find any bomb or suspicious items, the store reopened as normal within a couple of hours following the company’s policy.
