
Traffic was diverted on US 60 in Cloverport for about 2 hours Thursday(04/06) morning, following an accident on the Clover Creek Bridge.
According to the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened around 9:50 a.m. at the bridge, when 86-year-old Elbert Tindle of Cloverport apparently lost control of his westbound 1994 Toyota Pick-up, turning sideways in the roadway. The truck was struck by an eastbound 2012 Kia, driven by 46-year-old Mary Waddell of Owensboro.
Tindle and Waddell were treated at the scene By Breck Central EMS and airlifted to University of Louisville hospital by Air Evac.
Elbert Tindle succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Another eastbound vehicle, a 2006 Chevy Equinox, driven by 26-year-old Helen Mingus of Hardinsburg, was struck by debris from the collision, causing significant damage. Mingus was not injured.
Cloverport Police Department, Hardinsburg and Cloverport Fire Departments also assisted at the scene.
