
A Caneyville man is in jail after authorities say he stole cattle from a stockyard.
According to the Wabash County, Illinois Sheriff’s Office, 34 head of beef cattle, valued at $33,000, were reported stolen from the Lancaster Stockyard on September 4. During the investigation, 26 year-old Mason G. Ray, of Caneyville, was identified as the suspect and a warrant on a burglary charge was issued for his arrest.
Ray turned himself in to Kentucky State Police at the Hardin County Detention Center in Elizabethtown, on September 20. Ray was arrested on a Kentucky charge of receiving stolen property in excess of $10,000 and later posted a $20,000 cash bond related to the incident in Wabash County.
Ray was extradited back to Wabash County last week.
