
The Brandenburg City Council discussed a proposed zoning change during their regular meeting Monday (11/12) night.
The council discussed the zoning change request of Jeff and Judy Adkisson in the River Cliff Subdivision. They requested that a recently purchased lot zoned R-1 Single Residential to R-3 Multi Family Residential to match the zoning of the adjacent lots in the subdivision for the purpose to construct a duplex patio home. The City Planning Zoning Commission reviewed the request and heard public comments which were opposed to the change for fear of addition traffic among other concerns. The Planning and Zoning Board vote to recommend to to deny the change based upon the criteria of the comprehensive plan.
The City Council discussed the proposal after the Planning Commission’s recommendation was presented to them. After a lengthy discussion, the council unanimously approved the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission to deny the request. The Adkissons can re-apply for another change request for the lot to be zoned R2 at a future time.
In other business, city leaders heard and approved a presentation of the city audit by Drane & Company PLLC. Dan Drane said the city finances were in line but he recommended some changes in the operations to adequately control assets and depreciation of value of equipment. He also pointed out several accounting items and procedures related to Human Resources that need to adjusted or changed.
Council members approved a one time annual salary adjustment of $550 for full time employees and $100 for part time employees.
