
Representatives from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet collected input from members of Meade County Fiscal Court last week.
During the regular meeting of Meade County Fiscal Court on Tuesday (2/12) KYTC Rural and Municipal Aid Commissioner Gray Tomblyn along with Paul Sanders, District 4 Highway Engineer, asked county leaders along with those in attendance, what concerns that they had regarding the roadways. Tomblyn said the state road infrastructure has been neglected for decades and that the goal of state leaders are to bring more industry to the state. He the state has fourteen thousand bridges, twenty seven thousand highways and fifty three thousand county road miles to maintain. Several magistrates spoke up and provided road issues that they felt were critical. Among the concerns mentioned included the lack of turning lanes at intersections along 313 in Flaherty area; widening of Rabbit Run Road from Kentucky 144/1600 to Kentucky 313; signage near curves on Kentucky 1882 and 1238 and resurfacing funding for resurfacing of the remainder section of Old Ekron Road and improvements and possible widening on Camel Hill.
Paul Sanders reported work completed over the past year included resurfacing of Kentucky 1238 between Kentucky 144 to Kentucky 1638; replacement of two culverts along Kentucky 823, widening of Kentucky 228, resurfacing of Kentucky 941 between US 60 and Kentucky 144, resurfacing along Kentucky 1638 and US 60.
