
Members of Meade County Fiscal Court worked through a full agenda of projects during their regular meeting Tuesday (2/8) night.
Magistrates approved a resolution to provide the Meade County Water District with $500,000 of America Rescue Plan Act funds to install new water lines in the county. Judge Executive Leslie Stith said the county has 140 roads that are currently not served with county water. Even though the amount will provide full coverage of water to the, it will be a good step further to begin install pipe according to Judge Stith.
The court accepted the resignation of Carrie Likens from the County Planning and Zoning Commission. A replacement will be named during a future meeting. The court opened two received bids for the phase one of the new E911 Center remodel. VD Contracting submitted a bid of $1,383,669 and Prodigy Construction submitted a bid of $1,035,000. County leaders will review each bid to ensure the bid specs were met and the bid will be awarded as approved by the court’s motion.
A recommendation for public safety made by Addressing Director Tom Bridge related to an unnamed lane off of US 60 be named Rosemary Lane was approved by the Court. Concerns were raised by a resident on the lane regarding emergency response times due to their location.
In other business, magistrates were shown design plans for the new EMS Station 3 in Payneville. Leaders will review the plans and ensure they meet required specs of the project. Fiscal Court voted to allow seek bids for construction of the project. EMS Director Carissa Walters and Deputy Director Todd Vinton requested the county to enter into a ten year lease with Zoll Medical to provide updated 7 monitor/defibrillator units and 6 cpr devices. Vinton said to purchase the needed FDA approved devices would cost the county an estimated $1.2 million dollars. The ten year lease at $21,814 quarterly would provide $345,000 in savings. The lease would also included updated devices in five years with free replacements and all supplies and accessories. The court approved the request. They also approved a six month salary adjustment for the EMS Director. Walters reported to magistrates of recognitions that have been handed out to EMS staff who have provided outstanding service or who had completed training.
Judge Stith took a few moments during the meeting to ask all political candidates and elected officials to obey the state law related to campaign sign placements. The court adjourned into a half hour executive session to discuss litigation and discussions between a public agency and a representative of a business entity concerning a specific proposal. No action was taken as a result of the closed session.
