
Members of Meade County Fiscal Court worked through a busy agenda during their regular meeting Tuesday (7/12) night.
County leaders discussed and reviewed a proposed cash lease agreement with Baptist Health for the former Jewish Clinic building which is owned on the county. The proposed lease is valued at at $13 per square foot which amounts to approximately $127,500 annually for ten years, with four 5 year renewal options. The county would be responsible for any structural issues and Baptist Health would assume the costs of regular upkeep of the building. Fiscal Court unanimously approved the lease agreement.
Magistrates approved an easement for a water line to cross a piece of property that the county and Nucor are listed together one for the installation of water line to Millers Welding and Fabrication. The court accepted a letter of resignation from Guy Garcia as the County Planning and Zoning Commission Chairman. Garcia will take on the role of interim part-time Planning and Zoning Administrator until a full time candidate is hired.
Fiscal Court approved the appointment of Delmar Miller to three year term on the Battletown Fire Protection District Board and Anthony Lee to the E911 Committee as the representative of the County Fire Chief’s Association. They also approved Vicky Greer as the new assistant E911 Director and Jeff Cox as the Night Shift Supervisor, which are new positions in the E911 Center. New job descriptions of Training Officer and Shift Leader and Quality Assurance were approved at Meade County EMS.
E911 Director Jeremy Miller reported that a grant of $81,355 has been approved for the county E911 Center. He said ninety percent of the grant will reimburse the county. He wants to use the grant to purchase four new desk positions for the new dispatch center. He also provided magistrates information on purchasing new radios for the dispatch center. Miller said the current radio in use are now discontinued. The proposed new radios would allow for future upgrades and expansion of the radio system and would be compatible with the ongoing updates to the Kentucky State Police radio network. After review of the information, Fiscal Court voted to purchase four new radios on a seven year lease from Motorola.
In other business, magistrates approved to advertise for bids on a new or used backhoe for the Solid Waste and Recycling Center, a new small tractor for the County Maintenance Department and a new truck for the County Animal Control Officer.
