
The General Election held on Tuesday (11/8) resulted in upsets in the some local offices.
In Meade County, it was a republican slide as Troy Kok took the Meade County Judge Executive seat with 5,509 votes over Democrat Leslie Stith with 3,798 votes. Republican Susan Masterson earned 6,440 votes to take the County Clerk seat over Democrat Cathy Arnold with 3,116 votes. Incumbent Republican Sheriff Phillip Wimpee was re-elected with 7,242 votes over his Democratic challenger Danny Knell with 2,345 votes. Republican Gabe Chapman unseated Democratic incumbent Rebecca Richardson for PVA with 6,345 to 3,228. Anthony Lee took the top vote for Muldraugh Mayor with 93 votes over Corey Dresel who had 69 votes and Russell Cowins who had 45 votes.
In Breckinridge County, 4th District Democrat incumbent Magistrate David Albright and Republican Ronnie Robinson are tied with 572 votes. The initial count had Albright up by one vote, but a review discovered another vote for Robinson, resulting in the dead heat. County Clerk Jared Butler said after consulting with the Secretary of State’s office, the tie would be broken by way of a coin flip to be held later this week. Republican Tara Shrewsberry won a third term as jailer with 4,556 votes over Democrat Kyle Henderson with 2,216 votes. All three of the Mayoral races in Breckinridge County were contested with two incumbents retaining: Hardinsburg Mayor Wayne Macy and interim Cloverport Mayor Candy Weatherholt won Election Day votes, while Charles Douglas Lucas won a three-candidate race for the seat being vacated by Yvonne Kennedy.
