
The Brandenburg City Council set the 2023 tax rates during their regular meeting Monday (8/14) night.
Mayor Bryan Claycomb recommended to the council to take the compensating rate for real and personal property which results in the city’s real property tax rate to be set at .200 cents per $100 of accessed value and .2739 per $100 of accessed value on personal property. The council council also set the 2024 motor vehicle and watercraft rate at 32.80 cents per $100 of assessed value. The council heard and approved the first reading of the ordinances and will conduct the second reading during their September regular meeting.
In other business, the council heard and approved the second readings of rezoning ordinance for of the Redhead LLC & B&M Development LLC; and the Street Naming Ordinance. The Yard of The Month for August was awarded to Doc and Bonnie Oblander along Lakewood Drive. The council met in a closed session for the purpose to discuss possible litigation and personnel. After 18 minutes, the council returned to take no action from the closed session.
At the beginning of the meeting, David Pace reported that progress is being made on an agreement with the developer of Bridge Point Plaza to get the streets repaired to meet city standards. The access roads on the property are currently privately owned and are in bad repair which is used to service several businesses in the development off of the Bypass. Pace said an agreement has been signed with property owner and plan documents have bene submitted to the city surveyor and public works director. Pace also said that work on plans are underway for a secondary entrance to the development across the Gossett property which would bring traffic to Kentucky 448 (Broadway). Pace they will be working on the getting estimates for how much the project would cost to get a road bed installed.
