A former University of Kentucky student who was sentenced to 12 months in jail for a campus assault was released early last month.
A judge sentenced Sophia Rosing in October to 12 months in jail, 100 hours of community service and a $25 fine after she pleaded guilty in the case.
The incident happened in November 2022. A video shows Rosing in a residence building, hitting and shouting racial slurs at a Black student worker.
Rosing was permanently banned from UK’s campus because of the incident.
The Kentucky Department of Corrections reports that Rosing was released on May 11.
The department says she received pre-sentence credit and good-time credit from the jail, which advanced her release date.
