Police say four people, including two children, were hurt in what appears to be a drive-by shooting.
According to the Nicholasville Police Department, the shooting happened Tuesday night between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 27 and Brannon Road.
Police say the car absorbed 22 shots.
Nicholasville Police Assistant Chief Matt Marshall said a vehicle arrived at UK Hospital containing four patients
The victims are two little girls, ages four and six, a 37-year-old man, and a 39-year-old woman. All of them had injuries from a shooting. Nicholasville Police say one of the children was shot in the leg, the other was grazed by a bullet.
Marshall said unfortunately, no one in this case is cooperating with the investigation, including the victims.
Nicholasville Police are working with the ATF on this case.
Marshall says the two adults are known to federal law enforcement for past offenses, going back many years, though he couldn’t speak further on their backgrounds.
He said everything indicates this stems from a feud, the nature of which and the history of which, is not clear at this time. Officials anticipate it will escalate and that is what they don’t want.
Police believe they have identified the other vehicle involved in this shooting using FLOCK cameras. They are also working with businesses in the area to obtain any surveillance footage that could help them close this case.
Marshall says it is too early to tell if Tuesday’s shooting is connected to any local gangs.
No arrests have been made.
