A voluntary recall has been issued for select Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches that may be incorrectly labeled and cause severe allergic reactions.
According to a statement issued by the Food and Drug Administration, some individually-wrapped packs of the crackers may be incorrectly labeled as cheese variety even though they may be a peanut butter variety.
The recall covers the eight-pack, 20-pack and 40-pack cartons of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches, in addition to the 20-pack Ritz Filled Cracker Sandwich variety pack carton.
The company said all cartons are labeled correctly on the outside with an allergen advisory statement that indicates the crackers “contain peanuts.”
The recall doesn’t cover cartons that only have the cheese cracker sandwich or any other Mondelēz Global LLC products.
The FDA said there have been no reports of injury or illness in connection to this recall. Anyone with a peanut allergy shouldn’t eat these crackers and should throw them away.
