A man has been arrested after an alleged road rage shooting on Interstate 65 Monday evening.
It happened just after 5:30 p.m. The victim told police he was trying to merge onto the Watterson Expressway through an exit off of I-65. However, a witness said a car cut the victim off before things escalated.
According to the report, 35-year-old Derek Sanders and the victim began yelling and making obscene gestures at each other. The victim said Sanders then pulled out a handgun, pointed it at him, and shot his rear, passenger side tire.
When Louisville police arrived on the scene, Sanders admitted to being involved in a road rage incident but said he never shot at the victim, according to court documents.
Police said they found a gun inside Sanders’ car with a bullet missing. They also reportedly found Adderall in a Ziploc bag, which Sanders claims is for his child who has ADHD.
Sanders is facing several charges, including wanton endangerment and criminal mischief.
