A man is dead and his brother is now facing charges after a boating accident on a Kentucky lake.
The Laurel County Coroner confirmed 53-year-old John Peace, from Corbin, was killed in an accident on Laurel Lake just before 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The incident happened near Marsh Branch and Holly Bay Marina.
The London-Laurel County Rescue Squad was among the agencies dispatched to the lake.
The coroner says Peace’s brother, Don Peace, was driving a boat when John Peace ended up underneath it. He was struck by the boat’s motor prop and pronounced dead on the scene.
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement says Don Peace was arrested on charges of operating a boat/watercraft while intoxicated or under the influence and vehicular homicide when under the influence of alcohol.
Don Peace remains in the Laurel County Corrections Center on a $100,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear court on July 29.
