Workers from the electric battery plant developing in Hardin County, BlueOval SK, are met with rallying chants by Louisville union supporters.
Governor Andy Beshear was among other local politicians and leaders who joined BlueOvak SK workers at IBEW Local 369 off Preston Highway, as they garnered support to unionize.
Officials with the group aiming to unionize said a supermajority of workers want to join a union.
After months of pushing, BlueOval SK workers have received the approval from the National Labor Relations Board to hold an election and enter the bargaining stage.
Workers are asking for improved safety, affordable healthcare, and job security.
Company officials said the plant is on schedule to start production this year, but have not provided a specific time.
