The federal audits of mail delay issues at three Louisville post offices are complete.
The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General looked at the Iroquois Station, Middletown and Pleasure Ridge Park branches.
Auditors visited all three locations April 1. They said despite finding nearly 24,000 pieces of delayed mail from the day before, Iroquois management only reported 44% of the delayed mail, while Middletown and Pleasure Ridge Park didn’t report any delays.
The audit said management should have ensured that all mail was processed and delivered daily, and been truthful about the delays.
Recommendations in the completed audit include training management at all three locations, and ensuring there is adequate staffing at the Iroquois and Pleasure Ridge Park branches.
