
Louisville Metro Police have arrested a suspect they say shot and left a victim injured near Iroquois Park.
Carlos Garcia-Romero, 28, is has been charged with assault.
According to arrest records, LMPD responded to the 5200 block of New Cut Road on Friday around 8:50 p.m. after a reported shooting.
There, officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the left leg.
The victim was transported to UofL Hospital where he told investigators a “Carlos Garcia” had shot him after running into him at a restaurant.
Police said Garcia-Romero dates the victim’s ex-wife, whom they share a child with.
Garcia-Romero was identified as a suspect and arrested Sunday on an outstanding bench warrant.
During questioning, he admitted to shooting the victim and told police the gun “accidentally went off” as he was pointing it to scare the victim.
Police said Garcia-Romero told them he discarded the weapon in the dumpster of a nearby gas station.
Garcia-Romero is currently booked at Metro Corrections awaiting arraignment.
