A jury has recommended a 30-year prison sentence for a man convicted of multiple sex crimes involving a minor.
Bobby Joe “BJ” Bishop, 48, of Rocky Hill, was found guilty of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor (under 16), promoting a sexual performance by a minor (under 16), two counts of unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual activity, and two counts of third-degree rape.
Prosecutor Kori Beck Bumgarner said the crimes occurred in both Edmonson and Warren counties. Bishop will not be eligible for parole until he has served 20 years of his sentence.
Bishop’s final sentencing is set for October 14, 2025.
