A Rowan County man, who investigators say was working as a paramedic, is facing charges in two separate sex crime cases.
According to court documents, in the Fayette County case, Kentucky State Police say 32-year-old Shain Peterman was working as a paramedic in May 2024 when he sexually assaulted a patient being transported from Ironton, Ohio, to UK Hospital for surgery.
An arrest citation says Peterman admitted to a sexual act but claimed it was consensual.
In a separate case from February 2025 out of Rowan County, Peterman was indicted in early May on a charge of second-degree rape – position of authority.
According to court documents, he has been in the Rowan County Detention Center since May 9 and pleaded not guilty in June.
He remains in jail as both cases move forward.
