UofL Health says they will not be opening the Birthing Place at UofL Health Mary & Elizabeth Hospital anytime soon due to recent cuts to Medicaid.
The $20 million project was supposed to open this fall and offer the first labor and delivery services to south Louisville residents since 1974.
UofL Health says the remodeled space will house a new Women’s Health Center instead.
