An officer-involved shooting led to one man being arrested in Warren County.
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team was requested by Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green to investigate a trooper-involved shooting that occurred on August 11 in a wooded area near Interstate 165 and Sweeney Road.
The preliminary investigation indicates that just after 2:30 p.m., Post 3 was notified of a collision on I-165 southbound. It was further reported that a male, who had been involved in the collision, was attempting to steal multiple vehicles.
Troopers responded to the scene and encountered the male, identified as 24-year-old Gregoria Lopez, from Olive Hill, near the five-mile marker of I-165 southbound. He began to flee from the troopers into a wooded area. During the interaction, at least two troopers discharged their agency-issued weapons.
Lopez was not struck by the gunfire and was ultimately arrested. Following his arrest, he was transported to a local hospital as a precaution for a suspected reaction to an illegal substance. No other injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
Lopez was lodged in the Warren County Detention Center without bond. He is facing several charges including Carjacking; Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree; Operating Motor Vehicle Under Influence of Controlled Substance 1st Degree; Fleeing or Evading Police On Foot, 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest.
