The Fern Creek and Okolona Fire Departments are still investigating what caused a garage fire that damaged several homes and a car.
Firefighters responded to a call of a detached garage fire in the 7100 block of Black Mountain Drive at around 3:46 p.m. on Saturday, August 16.
Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found the fire had spread from the detached garage to the house and multiple other structures.
Extra fire companies were called to the scene due to the number of buildings on fire and the extreme temperatures. Approximately 40 firefighters helped bring the fire under control within 30 minutes.
In total, six buildings and one vehicle were damaged.
One resident was evaluated by EMS at the scene, and one firefighter was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but there were no major injuries.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and remains under investigation.
