Final sentencing for two of the men found guilty in the disappearance and presumed death of Crystal Rogers in 2015 have been delayed due to “ongoing serious health issues” of Joseph Lawson.
Brooks Houck, the boyfriend of Rogers at the time of her disappearance, and Joseph Lawson, were scheduled to be formally sentenced on August 21 after their convictions by a Warren County jury.
An order issued by Nelson Circuit Court has continued the sentencing to the afternoon of Wednesday, September 17.
Houck and Joseph Lawson were convicted on July 8. Following the verdicts, the jury quickly returned sentence recommendations of life in prison for Houck and 25 years for Joseph Lawson.
In a separate trial, the third person facing charges in the case, Steven Lawson, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence. Steven Lawson is the father of Joseph Lawson.
Both Joseph and Steven Lawson have requested new trials.
