A Nelson County woman was arrested after police say she intentionally started a fire after arguing with her mother.
The fire reported happened on August 16 in the 300 block of Little Union Road in Fairfield. According to police, 33-year-old Sarah Shelburne admitted to using rubbing alcohol to start the fire as an attempt to kill her mother and her mother’s boyfriend.
Court documents also say Shelburne spat in a deputy’s face during an interview with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and threatened to kick his teeth out.
Shelburne has been charged with arson, attempted murder, third-degree assault of a police officer, terroristic threatening, and wanton endangerment.
She is being held in the Nelson County Correctional Center under a $500,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in the Nelson County District Court on September 2.
