Louisville Metro Police arrested a 34 year-old man after he allegedly took his 8-year-old son to a drug deal and had him take cocaine.
Donnie Smith is accused of taking his 8-year-old son with him to a drug deal. Court documents say that after obtaining the drugs, Smith told his son to try them.
After taking the drugs, Smith’s son reportedly began to “act erratically,” and once home, he started to walk into walls and became non-verbal.
The son was then taken to the Norton Children’s Hospital, where he was treated for a drug overdose. Tests taken by the hospital came back positive for amphetamines, benzodiazepines and cocaine.
Smith is being charged with wanton endangerment, 1st degree; Endangering the welfare of a minor and trafficking in a controlled substance. He is being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
