Two people have died after a multi-car crash near Valley Station Sunday, August 31.
Louisville police said officers were called to the crash around 9:50 a.m. in 12000 block of Dixie Highway. Once there, they found several vehicles involved in the collision spanning both northbound and southbound lanes.
Investigations revealed that a vehicle was driving south on Dixie Highway when the driver attempted to change lanes and struck another vehicle that was also driving south.
The first vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes and hit a third vehicle. The third vehicle then crashed into a fourth vehicle that was also driving northbound.
The driver of the first vehicle was declared dead at the scene.
Two people were in the second vehicle, but neither of them was injured.
The driver of the third vehicle was taken to UofL Hospital with critical injuries, where they were later also pronounced dead.
No one in the fourth vehicle was injured.
Dixie Highway was closed for several hours to allow for reconstruction and debris removal.
The accident remains under investigation by LMPD’s Traffic Unit.
