
Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office officials say a man is in jail on several assault charges, along with wanton endangerment and evading police.
According to a press release, Hopkins County Central Dispatch received a complaint of an assault in the 100 block of North Hoffman Street in Nebo.
During the investigation, deputies made contact with two people who alleged the suspect, later identified as 42 year-old Steven Russo of Nebo, used a vehicle to assault them.
Allegations pertained to at least one individual being hit and pulled alongside the vehicle while the suspect was driving.
Officials say one person was removed from the scene and treated by Med Center Ambulance Service.
Deputies attempted to locate Russo and the vehicle in the Nebo area and eventually found him not far from the scene.
Officials say Russo would not comply with law enforcement and fled in the vehicle.
Russo traveled from Nebo to the intersection of Highway 502 and Highway 1034, where he turned around and fled back to the original scene.
Once at the scene Russo began to run until deputies caught and arrested him.
Russo was booked into the Hopkins County Jail and faces the following charges:
Assault 2nd Degree – Domestic Violence
Assault 2nd Degree
Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving)
Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree
Resisting Arrest
Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Controlled Substances 1st (Aggravating Circumstances)
Operating On Suspended or Revoked Operators License
Possession of Synthetic Drugs 1st Offense, Drug Paraphernalia (Buy/Possess)
He is being held under a $105,000 cash bond and scheduled to appear in court on September 5.
