Weeks after a fatal shooting on New Year’s Eve, a woman has been arrested.
The Louisville Metro Police Department said 38-year-old Shoshanha Jones was arrested Tuesday.
She is charged with murder, first-degree robbery, and possession of a handgun as a prohibited person with prior felonies.
The shooting happened in the parking lot of a McDonald’s on East Market Street around 10:35 p.m. on December 31, 2025.
According to an arrest citation, the victim and another person had driven to the McDonald’s with a child in the car.
Police said when the child got out of their car to enter the restaurant, the car door hit Jones’ car which was parked in the next spot.
Jones then began to yell at the child after they came back to the car, according to the citation. The other person in the car was with the child and tried redirecting Jones’ attention to them, but during the argument, Jones pulled out a gun.
The citation said the woman who was fatally shot then got out of the car and tried to intervene and Jones shot her in the chest.
Jones then stole the other victim’s phone at gunpoint as they tried to record the incident.
Police said Jones’ ID was found on the ground near a shell casing.
Jones will be arraigned on Wednesday, January 14 at 9 a.m.
