A Louisville man was arrested and charged after police say he walked into a Thornton’s gas station and flashed a fake badge in order to steal coffee and donuts.
The incident occurred on January 9 at the Thornton’s on Cane Run Road. According to officials, 54 year-old James Sullivan walked into the gas station and picked up donuts and poured himself a coffee. That is not a crime, but what police say happened next is.
As he walked by the cashier, he bypassed the point of sale and flashed a silver badge on his hip.
The employee contacted authorities. Police began an investigation and say that it wasn’t the first time Sullivan had done this.
He was identified and taken into custody on Tuesday, January 13. He was charged with impersonating a police officer and theft by unlawful taking. Court documents reveal Sullivan is a convicted felon with a lengthy criminal history.
