FEMA has approved an additional $12.3 million in funding to support disaster recovery in Kentucky.
Majority of the funding comes from FEMA’s Public Assistance program, which has already provided $100 million to help the state recover and rebuild after a series of severe storms and tornadoes between February 2025 and May 2025.
The program provides funds for state and local government response and recovery work at no less than a 75% federal cost share, per the release.
The recently approved recovery projects include:
$2.7 million to the KY Department of Transportation to repair roads across the commonwealth damaged after severe storms and flooding in February 2025.
$1.5 million to Trimble County to repair Coopers Bottom Road damaged by severe storms and flooding in April 2025.
$1 million to Breathitt County to repair roads damaged by severe storms and flooding in April 2025.
$906,000 to the Frankfort Housing Authority to replace buildings damaged by severe storms and flooding in April 2025.
$476,000 to Pike County to repair roads damaged after severe storms and flooding in February 2025.
Additionally, FEMA approved $1.3 million for the state to acquire and demolish flooded properties in Harlan County. The properties will be converted into permanent open space to help prevent, eliminate or reduce future disaster damage, per the release.
