Louisville police have arrested a man accused of a violent physical and sexual assault on a woman in the city’s Chickasaw neighborhood, according to a uniform citation.
The citation says the assault was reported around 7:45 a.m. July 2 near the 1600 block of Northwestern Parkway. Investigators say the victim told officers she was attacked by an unknown suspect armed with a metal baton, and that a passerby on a bicycle intervened and helped her get away.
In the citation, the victim said that she was hit with a metal baton, causing her to lose a tooth. The assailant also put her in a “rear naked choke” and hit her several times, causing more injuries to her teeth.
The victim claims that the attacker said that he would kill her if she kept screaming.
Police say the victim was taken to UofL Hospital with serious injuries, including a broken nose, a jaw fracture, facial lacerations requiring stitches, and multiple teeth fractured or knocked out.
The suspect, identified as Jamille Stewart, was arrested later that afternoon in downtown Louisville and is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree strangulation (non-domestic violence), and first-degree sexual abuse.
