A man died after being hit by a vehicle early Sunday morning in the Fern Creek area.
Louisville Metro Police said officers were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. on a reported crash and pedestrian struck near Bardstown Road and South Watterson Trail.
Investigators said an unoccupied vehicle was stopped in the left lane of Bardstown Road, just north of Watterson Trail, from a previous collision.
Police said the pedestrian, a man who they believed to be the driver of that vehicle, was standing near the car and a concrete median when an unknown vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes struck him.
EMS took the man to UofL Hospital where he died soon after arrival, according to police.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating. Police said the driver who crashed into the man fled the scene.
