Tayden E. Brown, 18, turned himself in and was booked in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on Friday, July 17, in connection with a May 9 shooting in the Parkland neighborhood.
According to court documents, Brown is charged with first-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence.
An affidavit alleges Brown shot a teenage victim in the chest during a meeting at the victim’s home that was alleged to be a planned handgun sale.
The victim required emergency surgery and suffered a reported brain injury due to lack of oxygen, followed by months of treatment and long-term rehabilitation, the complaint states.
The affidavit also alleges Brown deleted Instagram messages connected to the alleged gun sale and took steps to hinder the investigation, including keeping a vehicle out of view and no longer possessing the gun.
Brown pleaded not guilty at arraignment Saturday. A judge set a $10,000 cash bond and ordered no contact with the victim/complaining witness and no firearms. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 27.
