Two men are still on the run after shooting a store clerk during an attempted robbery at the 7th Street Food Mart in the 2500 block of 7th Street Road around 9:40 Friday morning.
The store clerk is in critical condition, according to Louisville Metro Police Department spokesman Dwight Mitchell. He was rushed into surgery at University of Louisville Hospital.
The victim was identified by his uncle as David Bryant, a father of four in his early 40’s.
According to the store owner, Bassam Ali, his brother and Bryant were working at the time. His brother was running the store behind a bullet proof window, but Bryant was outside of the glass. He noticed two men walk in, one of them was wearing a mask. Bryant walked up to the two men when one of them shot him. The thieves fled, but did not get any money.
There is surveillance video from inside the store, but police have not released a description of the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call the anonymous police tip line at (502) 574-LMPD.
