
A man was arrested and charged with murder after a deadly hit-and-run accident early Sunday morning in the Portland neighborhood.
Police located 26 year-old Charles Ballard, a short distance away from the scene of the accident at 25th and Bank Streets, according to Louisville Metro police spokesperson Alicia Smiley.
Ballard was taken into custody without incident. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance or operator’s license in possession, DUI and murder.
Police were called to Griffiths Avenue near 25th Street shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday on a call of a hit and run. When they arrived, they found 24 year-old Cory Russell Starrett, who had been struck by a vehicle.
Starrett, who lived at the 300 block of N. 23rd Street, was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple blunt force injuries.
The collision remains under investigation by the Louisville Metro Police Department.
